The criteria for the admission of students to Year 7 in September are as follows: Category 1 In the event of a tie for 71st place the criteria in Category 2 below will be used to determine the successful applicant. |
Category 2
The remaining 212 places to be allocated as follows, in this order:
· Girls Looked
After who, in the opinion of the Governing Body, would be suitably
provided for in the school;
· *Where the girl has a sibling on the school roll
on the date of admission and is not admitted under category 1;
· Girls with special medical/social needs, which in the
opinion of the Governing Body, would be suitably provided for
in the school;
· Proximity of the girl's home to the school, measured
by the shortest walking route, with those living nearest being
given the highest priority.
*Sibling places
The priority given to sisters
of children attending Burntwood school has changed. The change
has been made so sisters of new children admitted to the school
from September 2008 onwards, will only get priority if the children
live locally. If you are applying for a place for September 2008,
your child will still receive priority if they have a sister already
attending the school and who will still be attending in September
2008.
BUT
If the child for whom you are applying for a place in September
2008 has younger sisters who will be eligible to transfer to secondary
school from September 2009 onwards, the younger sister(s) will
only get priority if:
a) They have an older brother or sister who started at the school
BEFORE September 2008; or
b) They have an older brother or sister who started at the school
from September 2008 onwards and, regardless of the criteria under
which they were offered a place, they lived near enough to
the school to be eligible for a place that year under the distance
criterion.
Younger sisters of children offered a place for September 2008
because of their test score, will not get priority in future years
unless they meet conditions a) or b) above.
All applicants under category
1 will also be considered under category 2.
Parents have the right to appeal against non-admission through
an independant Appeal Committee.
For 283 places available in September 2007, 984 applications were
received by the deadline, 20th October 2006.
