About Burntwood

History

Burntwood was opened as a new school in September 1986 although the buildings date from 1958.

The Governors, staff and students created a forward-looking school with a real commitment to girls' education and achievement. Our mission statement created then still rings true today as we continue to provide 'the best education today for the women of tomorrow'.

The school is a 'foundation' school linked financially to the Local Education Authority, Wandsworth, but governors control admissions, staffing, buildings and curriculum policies.
