The ICT curriculum offers a broad range of courses to suit the needs of each individual learner. At Key Stage Three pupils are taught to become critical and largely autonomous users of ICT, aware of the ways in which ICT tools and information sources can help them in their work. Pupils learn to use a wide range of software, including word processors, databases, and spreadsheets.
ICT at Burntwood aims to provide a firm base from which pupils can broaden and consolidate their ICT skills in other subject areas.
At Key Stage Four we offer GCSE ICT using the AQA exam board. In the Sixth Form we offer AS and A2 Level ICT (AQA).
Our vision for ICT is to develop an e-confident school. We will exploit ICT to improve the quality of learning and teaching to stimulate, motivate and empower learners. ICT will be used to encourage independent and personalised learning for all, by extending learning opportunities outside of the classroom. We will also draw on ICT to transform administration, support management and ensure staff can become more efficient and effective. Overall, ICT will encourage collaborative work and help raise standards.
