Riverside Art and Literature Trip - 28th June 2011
This month, 55 of the students who took part in this year’s Carnegie Medal reading group enjoyed a trip to locations near to the River Thames to explore links between literature, poetry and art.
The students from Years 7 to 10 first went to one of Waterloo’s railway arches to see a series of mosaics celebrating the art and poetry of William Blake. Then they made their way to the Garden Museum to sketch some of the unusual plant species found there. The trip culminated at Tate Britain where students studied a number of Pre- Raphaelite paintings inspired by literature.
