The Library has held a number of events throughout this academic year. Here is a list of some of the events.

The Carnegie Shadowing Reading Group - 30th March 2010

Meets every Monday or Friday Lunchtime in the Library. We will read the shortlist books for this prestigious childrens' book award.

The FAB Book Award - 1st April 2010

‘The FAB Book Award’ was developed by Wandsworth secondary school librarians to give students more of a say on which books they want to read and see winning awards. The winner of this year’s FAB Book Award was announced at an event held at Wandsworth’s Professional Centre at the end of March.

Tooting Library - 1st March 2010

Tooting Library has recently opened after being closed for nearly eighteen months. Librarian, Taskeen Siddiqi and three students went to the official launch of the Library.

The three students had been involved in meeting with staff from Wandsworth Public Libraries and had helped to select books and furniture of the ‘Teen’ section of the Library.

FAB Book Award Shortlist - 22nd February 2010

The Fabulous Book Award or ‘FAB’ is a local book award for Wandsworth secondary schools. It is being run for the first time this year and if the Award is successful will become an annual event.

Students from the eight Wandsworth schools taking part, have had the chance to nominate and vote for books on the longlist. These votes formed the basis of choosing the shortlist.

Book Fair - 16th March 2010

Tuesday 16th March and Wednesday 17th March. Books will be supplied by Golden Treasury Bookshop, an independent bookshop in Southfields. World Book Day £1.00 vouchers can be used at the Book Fair.

World Book Day - 4th March 2010

World Book Day was on Thursday 4th March. Staff wore badges saying ‘Ask me what I am reading’ and students in years 7-9 had badges with their favourite book on them.

This generated a lot of discussions all day about books.

Author visit - 2nd March 2010

Carmen Reid Tuesday 2nd March 2010. She will talk to Years 8,9,10 and sell her books at lunchtime in the Library.

Book Fair - 14th December 2010

This event was held between Monday 7th December and Friday 11th December 2009.

Author Visit - 1st February 2010

Annette V Hart attend Burntwood School for an author visit. This event took place on Monday 1st February 2010.

Annette V Hart provided a talk to the Years 7 & 8 students and sold her first exciting book 'Blood of Allegiance' at £5.99.

Reading Group - 14th January 2010

The 'Fabulous Book Award' Reading Group will commence from 14th January to 18th March 2010 on every Tuesdays after school or Thursday lunchtime in the Library.

Students will also have the opportunity to vote for their favorite book on the Fronter. Students’ votes will decide the wining book.
