The FAB Book Award - 1st April 2010

‘The FAB Book Award’ was developed by Wandsworth secondary school librarians to give students more of a say on which books they want to read and see winning awards. The winner of this year’s FAB Book Award was announced at an event held at Wandsworth’s Professional Centre at the end of March. Students from seven Wandsworth secondary schools attended, as well as staff from Wandsworth’s School Library Service and Public Libraries.

Three shortlisted authors, Rachel Ward, Alexander Gordon-Smith and Savita Kalhan also attended the event. Following presentations and discussions on books from the shortlist and talks by each of the authors, the winning book, as voted for by students, was announced by David Bowey, Manager of the School Library Service. Rachel Ward was awarded the FAB Book Award 2010 for her book ‘Numbers’, a very popular choice with Burntwood students.
