Burntwood’s GCSE students had good reason to celebrate when they received their results last week. An impressive 71% achieved five A*-C grades and 65% achieved 5 or more A*-C grades including English and Mathematics.
The provisional A level results have been received and show an increase in top grades A*-B which are 47.3% of all the papers taken. The overall pass rate also showed a slight increase to 97.8%
These strong results mean that the majority of students have been able to access their University course of choice.
GCSE results are due in on Tuesday 24th August.
I and all the members of the Burntwood Community are delighted at the news that our rebuilding project will be going ahead, in full, as planned. The building work is scheduled to begin in April 2011 and is designed to take place with no disruption to learning whatsoever.
Wednesday 21st July is a Mufti Day. Students may wear their own clothes to school if they bring in 1 pound. This will be donated to the Trinity Hospice.
Following an extensive and lengthy set of external assessments, Burntwood School has been awarded the prestigious government-funded ICT Mark for its innovative and widespread use of Information Communication Technology to support students’ learning at all levels within the school.
We have delayed confirming the final arrangements for the end of this year and the start of school in September in order to ensure that our arrangements mean that there is minimum disruption to the school year next year when we are still expecting to start on the exciting redevelopment of Burntwood.
The Private View for the Art & Photography department's annual summer show takes place on Tuesday 22nd June between 4.30pm and 7.00pm.

Home Access is a government drive that helps low income families who currently lack access to a computer and/or internet to get online at home. The programme is aimed at those that need it most. If you are a low-income family in receipt of certain benefits you could qualify for a grant to buy a computer and/or a minimum of one years’ internet access.
