Recently the majority of unions of which school based staff are members have been balloted on taking industrial action (a one day strike) on Wednesday 30th November 2011. The ballots have been overwhelmingly in favour of this. The action will result in class or whole school closure across the country.
Burntwood students and staff have once again supported Movember, a month-long charity event that raises funds and awareness for men’s health issues, specifically prostate cancer.
As winners of the Lion Heart Challenge London Regional Final in July, a team of Burntwood’s Year 11 students participated in the National Final for this enterprise competition, held in Lancaster on November 4th.
Last week 70 members of staff donned hard hats, high visibility vests and steel toe capped boots for a grand tour of the new buildings programme.
This month, Burntwood was one of five Wandsworth schools to welcome to London, teachers from their partner schools in China.
Ten Year 9 students accompanied by Miss Zafirovska, Ms Heipl and Mr Fyvie visited Macedonia at the beginning of October.
The trip, funded by a EU grant, was organised by Wandsworth Council in partnership with Burntwood School and the Municipality of Aerodrom in Skopje, capital of Macedonia, as well as students and teachers from Karlovac, Croatia.
This month, Burntwood School is celebrating 25 years of success. A day of festivities was held on Saturday the 17th September.

Latin has been taught successfully for many years at Burntwood with students able to study the subject up to A level. This term, a new classical language has been added to Burntwood’s extended curriculum.
