I am writing to outline the arrangements that are in place to support your daughter in her preparation for her GCSE Science exam(s) in January 2012.
As you may be aware the Science Cluster is changing the arrangements for subjects delivered at key stage 4. The aim of this change is to enable a greater proportion of our students to take 3 science GCSEs without having to use one of their preferences to do so.
On Monday 18th July (A side) Year 7 students will have the opportunity to visit Bhaktivedanta Manor, a Hare Krishna temple near Watford. At the temple students will take part in a variety of activities including dressing up in saris, face painting and going on a bullock cart ride, and as this is a joint trip with the Geography department there will also be the opportunity to look at sustainable gardens.

I am writing to inform you that following a final Year Assembly this morning, Year 11 students are on exam leave. They are only required to attend school for examinations.
I am writing to inform you that the Religious Studies Department is organising a series of revision classes during Monday lunchtime.
We are writing to remind you that the GCSE Modular Science Examinations are taking place on Wednesday 2nd March. Your daughter will be issued with her examination timetable this week, however I have outlined the approximate timings of the morning for your information.
I am writing to inform you of changes to the management of Year 10. I am sorry to say that Mrs Sandra Marshall is leaving Burntwood at the end of this term. Mrs Marshall has worked at Burntwood as a teacher in the S.E.N. Department and in the Languages Cluster, as a Deputy Year Curriculum Co-ordinator and latterly as a Year Curriculum Co-ordinator.
I am writing to inform you that the GCSE Written Mock Examinations take place between Monday 29th November and Friday 10th December 2010. During this time, students should come into school for exams only. Students may go off-site or return home between exams. Normal lessons will resume on Monday 13th December.
