BURNTWOOD PARENTS’ COMMUNICATION GROUP

These are the minutes of the meeting held on Thursday 17th November 2011

Introduction and Welcome – Hazel Warburn

1. The Forthcoming Olympics – Sheryl Arthur Assistant Principal

Sheryl Arthur, who is coordinating the Olympic celebration at Burntwood, gave a presentation on how the school will mark the forthcoming Games. Burntwood is a member of the Get Set network and as such the school will be allocated a number of free Olympics tickets for students.

2. The School Fund

School Fund is for the benefit of all students at Burntwood. The School Fund helps to support events, concerts, speakers, productions, competition prizes and other whole school activities.

The group asked if the purpose of the School Fund could be better explained at interview and also that information regarding the School Fund be included in the pack given to parents when their daughters start at Burntwood.

3. Uniform Update

The new uniform will ‘go live’ in September 2013. It is planned that the new uniform will be simplified with less choice to ensure that students’ appearance is more homogeneous. The group was asked to consider options for the new uniform.

4. AOB

Parents asked if there could be a suggestion forum on the school website.
Could there be a social event for parents new to the school?
Could school concerts could be more of a social event with refreshments available?

The next meeting of the Parents’ Communication Group is on Thursday 8th March 2012 6.30 -7.30
