BURNTWOOD PARENTS’ COMMUNICATION GROUP

This is a summary of the minutes of the meeting held on Tuesday 23rd March 2010

1. Introduction and Welcome

2. Humanities Cluster - Sheryl Arthur

Sheryl Arthur, Head of Humanities, gave a presentation on the work of the cluster.

This included:

  • Subjects taught within cluster
  • Staffing – specialist teaching staff
  • Cluster Behaviour and Monitoring Policies to include learning walks/book checks/target setting/intervention/student voice
  • Curriculum and how it is delivered in the Lower School
  • Results attained
  • Enrichment opportunities

3. BSF Update

CH updated parents on BSF and the progress made thus far. Wandsworth will decide on the winning bid. The school has been working closely with the final two bidders. Demolition of the Middle Block will begin during the summer holiday of 2011.

4. Family Information Evenings

CH asked parents for suggestions as to what they would like these to feature or topics that they would find useful.

Suggestions included:

  • Bullying and Cyber bullying
  • E safety

There will be further consultation on this via the school website. Parents would like to have more information on the topics of forthcoming Family Information Evenings. This will also be available on the website.

5. Extended School

Burntwood has an Extended Schools Coordinator provided by Wandsworth.

CH asked for suggestions as to what parents would like the Extended Schools Programme to offer.

6. AOB

Other matters discussed at this meeting are as follows:

  • Revision notes on website would be useful.
  • Banner on website – a daily update?

The date of the next meeting is Tuesday 11th May 2010 6.30pm – 7.30pm
