RVC Summer University

The Royal Veterinary College Summer University is a three day event (29th June – 1st July 2010) designed to enhance your understanding of the veterinary professions.

Delivered and managed by the Royal Veterinary College, the aim of the project is to increase awareness of the careers, study skills and science behind working with animals. Please log into Fronter for more details.

Differences in race may seem obvious to the eye, but what is the scientific basis underlying skin colour and are the consequences only skin deep? The use of 'race' in science is loaded with a dangerous past, so should we confine it to the history books?


Why do you Want to Live For Ever?

Is ageing simply a disease and a curable one at that? Should medicine be able to combat ageing just as we have combated and eliminated many diseases? We hear from the scientist developing the 'polypill' that could lengthen lives, and others, to discuss how our relationship with death has changed and where this might take us in the future.


Living with Dementia

By 2025 over 1 million people in the UK will be diagnosed with dementia. Recent research found that dementia tops the list of conditions that people over 55 fear in later life. How will we deal with this growing number and how can lives be improved?
