Student Council provides an important voice within the school community. Each year group elects two representatives who raise issues students wish to discuss. The Student Council meets every half term, and meetings are chaired by the Sixth Form Committee members with a member of the Senior Management Team present. Decisions made by the Student Council are referred to the Senior Management Team for further discussions.
Amendments in the day-to-day running of the school are fed back to year groups through their representatives. Issues raised and acted on by the Student Council have included, School uniform and Shop, the Refectory, the whole school Behaviour Policy; improvements to student facilities; the cashless catering system; the service offered by the school meals team and nominations for the Princess of Wales Memorial Award.
Student Council offers students the chance to develop important life-skills, such as leadership, as well as the opportunity to act positively on behalf of others including charity events.
Students should contact their year representatives if they have a suggestion to make or wish to raise an issue for the Council to discuss.
