THE GOVERNING BODY The basic function of the governors in any school is to decide the school's main policies. These policies are then implemented by the Principal, who is in charge of the day-to-day running of the school and answerable to the governors. Burntwood was grant maintained from January 1992 and in September 1999 became a Foundation school. This means that the school works with the LEA on funding issues but governors retain responsibility for admissions, employment of staff and ownership of the school buildings and equipment. In order to carry out these responsibilities, the governors work closely with the Principal and the Senior Management Team. The Governing Body of twenty comprises, five partnership governors, seven elected parent governors, one teacher governor, two staff governors, the Principal and two governors appointed by the LEA. They will always be happy to hear from you and, if necessary, take up any matter which falls within their responsibilities. The Governors have a Curriculum Complaints Procedure available on request from the school office and any parent is most welcome to pursue any enquiry with the Chair of Governors. |
