Scholars Programme

The Burntwood Scholars’ Programme is an opportunity to encourage students who have a particular strength or particular love of a subject to engage fully both in and out of the classroom.

These include:

  • Attendance to a subject scholars’ club
  • First options on trips and in school events
  • Running whole school and year assemblies
  • Working with subject leaders during GCSE and A-Level options events
  • Running an inside out activity to promote their chosen subject
  • Working with staff on events such as open season and open evenings
  • Meeting with the Senior Leadership Team and Governing Body
  • Meeting with specialists from careers linked to subjects – ie – Mary Beard for the History Scholars
  • Mentoring younger students within the scholars programme – ie – Year 13 students supporting Year 11s with exams.
