Anti-Racism at Burntwood School
Anti-Racism at Burntwood School
We remain committed to our ethos of inclusion and equality for all students and staff at Burntwood School. This academic year we are engaged in a number of programmes and activities aimed at raising awareness and exploring how we can continue to make our community inclusive for all.
Key Stage Three Anti-Racism:
Our group of Year 7, 8 and 9 students are working with a former student currently studying at Cambridge University on whole school projects aimed at raising awareness of injustices in our society.
Key Stage Four Anti-Racism:
Our Year 10 students are producing assemblies that tackle challenging issues around race and inequality. These are being delivered virtually to our Key Stage 4 classes.
Key Stage Five Anti-Racism:
Sixth Form Students will be involved in chairing working groups of students from across the school in examining the academic and extra-curricular provision at Burntwood School and feeding back to the Senior Leadership Team.
Anti-Racism in the curriculum:
All subject areas are re-examining their curricular and ensuring that their subject reflects the contributions from our diverse global community. This includes PSHE lessons that give Burntwood students and staff the opportunity to discuss and explore challenging and controversial subjects in a safe and nurturing space.
