The SSE Cluster curriculum is designed to achieve the following objectives:

Through a combination of theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and critical thinking, students develop a deep understanding of key concepts and theories within their discipline.

A Level Psychology: Our aim is to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the scientific study of human behaviour and mental processes. Through the exploration of key concepts, research methods, and theoretical perspectives, students develop critical thinking skills and analytical abilities, enabling them to evaluate psychological phenomena and apply psychological principles to real-world contexts.

A Level Sociology: Our aim is to engage students in the sociological study of society, culture, and social institutions. Students explore sociological theories, research methods, and contemporary social issues, developing a sociological imagination and a critical awareness of the social structures and processes that shape individual lives and collective experiences.

BTEC Health and Social Care: Our aim is to prepare students for careers in the health and social care sector by providing them with a comprehensive understanding of health, well-being, and social care provision. Students develop practical skills and theoretical knowledge through a combination of coursework, placements, and vocational assessments, preparing them for further study or employment in the field.

T-Level Education and Early Years Pathway: Our aim is to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and practical experience necessary to work effectively in early years education settings. Students explore key concepts and theories in child development, learning, and pedagogy, gaining hands-on experience through placements and practical assessments, preparing them for roles as early years educators or further study in education-related fields.

A Level Business Studies: Our aim is to develop students' understanding of the principles and practices of business management and entrepreneurship. Through the exploration of key business concepts, case studies, and real-world examples, students develop analytical skills and decision-making abilities, enabling them to evaluate business strategies, solve complex problems, and innovate in a dynamic business environment.

A Level Economics: Our aim is to provide students with a solid foundation in economic theory, policy, and analysis. Students explore microeconomic and macroeconomic principles, applying economic models and tools to analyse contemporary economic issues and policy debates. Through critical inquiry and data analysis, students develop a deep understanding of economic phenomena and their implications for individuals, businesses, and society.

BTEC Business: The BTEC Business curriculum is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of fundamental business principles, practices, and skills. Our curriculum aims to equip students with the knowledge, competencies, and practical experiences necessary to thrive in a dynamic and competitive business environment

T-Level Management and Administration Pathway: For this course our aim is to develop students into highly skilled, work-ready professionals who can thrive in a wide range of business and administrative environments. This pathway provides students with a deep understanding of organisational structures, business functions, and effective management practices. Students explore core themes such as project management, business change, quality compliance, and stakeholder communication while building strong analytical and problem-solving skills. They gain practical, hands-on experience through substantial industry placements, working directly with employers to apply theory to real-world administrative challenges. By the end of the course, students are fully prepared for progression into higher education programmes or Business Administration roles.

 

Enrichment Opportunities

Business & Economics: Trips to the Bank of England, financial institutions, and local businesses. Trip to Brussels and European Parliament.

Psychology & Sociology: Visits to museums, courts, and universities to explore real-life applications of theories; opportunities to take part in research projects and debate clubs. Visit to House of Parliament

Health & Social Care: Structured work experience placements in nurseries, health centres, and care settings; first aid training and qualification; guest speakers from industry

T Level Management & Administration: Industry placements with business partners, shadowing managers and administrators; project work based on real employer briefs.

Opportunities for Scholars

Interdisciplinary Learning Projects: Students work across subjects to tackle enterprise or social issues, developing teamwork, critical thinking, and presentation skills.

Cluster Competitions: Business pitch challenges, debate competitions, and mock policy forums encourage students to apply their knowledge in a competitive and creative way.

University Links: Collaboration with higher education institutions, this will include in the future taster lectures, workshops, and campus visits to raise aspirations and inform future pathways.

Leadership and Mentoring Opportunities: Students are encouraged to take on roles such as SSE Ambassadors, peer mentors, or event organisers, building leadership skills and confidence.
