Performing Arts & Physical Education
Welcome to the Performing Arts and Physical Education Cluster. Our programs are designed to inspire creativity, foster physical well-being, and develop a wide range of skills that will benefit students throughout their lives. Whether you're passionate about drama, dance, music, or sport, our curriculum offers something for everyone.
The Physical and Arts Education cluster provides a curriculum which enables students to acquire skills, knowledge and understanding in order to become healthy, confident sportswomen and creative, innovative makers and performers of theatre and music. The PAE curriculum will develop the student’s ability to work effectively as part of a team, an ensemble and a performance. The curriculum will ensure students can articulate their experiences of the world in which they live in personalised and thoughtful ways.
The PAE curriculum ensures the talents and aptitudes of all students are challenged, supported and celebrated.
The PAE curriculum ensures students develop an empathy and understanding of the world from a range of viewpoints, fostering an appreciation of beauty, diversity and creativity and a life-long interest in sports and the arts.
Skills and Knowledge Acquired
Students in our cluster will acquire a variety of skills and knowledge, including:
- Creating: Developing original ideas and bringing them to life through performance and physical activity.
- Developing: Enhancing techniques and strategies in both performing arts and physical education.
- Refining: Polishing and perfecting performances and physical skills.
- Performing: Presenting work to an audience or participating in physical activities and sports.
- Evaluating: Critically assessing performances and physical activities to improve and grow.

Key Stage 3 (KS3)
- Drama: Introduction to basic acting techniques, improvisation, and script work.
- Dance: Fundamental dance styles, choreography, and performance skills.
- Music: Basic music theory, instrument skills, and ensemble performance.
- Physical Education: Fundamental skills, techniques and tactics across multiple sports.
Key Stage 4 (KS4)
- Drama: Advanced acting techniques, theatre history, and production.
- Dance: Intermediate choreography, dance analysis, and performance.
- Music: Advanced music theory, composition, and solo/ensemble performance.
- Physical Education: Core PE – A diverse programme to promote lifelong participation. Cambridge National – Advanced knowledge on sport organsiation, coaching and physical performance.
Key Stage 5 (KS5)
- Drama: Professional acting techniques, directing, and theatre production.
- Dance: Advanced choreography, dance analysis, and performance.
- Music: Music composition, advanced performance, and music technology.
- Physical Education: Sports Technical Award, advanced practical performance, knowledge, coaching and leadership
